HE’S expecting?

“If I wasn’t a Christian, I’d kill him!”

At work yesterday, Lola was telling us about the pregnant man who was going to be on Oprah today. That sparked some heated conversation. Usually, it’s Mershant saying the ridiculous things, but during this particular conversation, Mershant was the voice of reason!

I explained how I saw the preview on Oprah last week and looked up this pregnant man online. Thomas is a transgendered man, born as Tracy. He has all his woman reporoductive parts (that feels strange to type), but was taking hormones to bulk up and grow facial hair and all that. No boobs, but still a uterus and vagina and all that.

“I don’t get it,” Lola said, disgusted. “You make this decision that you want to me a man, right? So why do you want to get pregnant?”

“But Lola. That’s their life. It’s just different,” Mershant tried to tell her. She has a gay sister, so she’s more tolerant of these things than pastor’s wife Lola. “They have to answer to God for all that. But I bet that kid is going to come out confused…”

“Yeah, of course it’s gonna be confused! It came out of…daddy, but has a mommy? What? I don’t get it. It’s sick. I swear, he better be careful because there are people out there who will want to kill them!”

“Let them be and do what they do,” Mershant said. “Instead of Mommy or Daddy, that baby can call her parents Maddy or Dommy.”

I watched half the show, but wasn’t paying much attention to it. I guess the couple kept a vial of semen in their house and kept inserting it into Thomas until he got pregnant. I personally think it’s a little strange, but maybe it’s just something people will get used to over time. Whether that’s right or wrong obviously isn’t my call, but I still can’t get over how creepy it looks.
