I think I have a tendency to move on and like the newer novelty of recent shows more than the past, but the first three days were great. It's interesting to analyze the character development over the years and see how the writers/producers use the same tactics season after season (such as nobody believing Jack, ever), but with fresh presentation.

i agree with everything you said. i'm not knocking this season. i actually love it. i just don't think you can say it's the best season thus far when Seasons 1-3 are better. definitely better than last season, which in my opinion was the worst. i like Renee, i like Moss. i loved that Bill sacrificed himself, that Tony was bad, but is back and helping out again, and that Aaron Pierce is around. i also love that CTU is gone. there's definitely a different dynamic to this season, which is why i thought it might have failed. but i was wrong. even though this show will ALWAYS be predictable by following a definite sequence and template, it STILL is entertaining somehow. there is no other show on television that i can say that about. not even the Sopranos

Season 3 was epic. Absolutely. And David Palmer will be the best President in the history of the universe as well.

But Season 7 marks a new era for the country. Jack works for nobody; he's a rogue, by-any-means-necessary operator/bad ass. President Taylor sucks, yes, and I can't stand her, but the added dimension of a moody, female commander-in-chief gives us a different perspective on the Oval Office. TONY is alive and there are several twists in his MO and motivation. The flippin' White House goes under siege. Bill Buchanan dies in a martyred blaze of glory. There are layers and layers of involvement..starting with Dubaku, going up to Gen. Juma, and even higher up to the crazy white Starkwood guys with money at the top of it all. There's sexual tension between Renee and Agent Moss and Renee and Jack, adding to the intense drama (without any dumb tangential romance lines thus far). Jack's life is "endangered." Plus, I believe Kim makes her return today as well!

Day 3 was indeed one for the books, but Day 7 builds on all the tension and life experiences from the last several years in all the characters' lives.

there is NO WAY this season is better than Season 3. reasons being as follows:
David Palmer is still President; Jack acquires a heroin addiction; Kim is still around and working for CTU, though she's still annoying; Michelle is still around, and very cute i might add; Nina is still evil and is working with the virus and the bio-threat. and she's hot, too; Jack shoots Chapelle - INTENSE!; Jack plays Russian roulette with a security guard in one of the greatest most intense scenes in TV history!; Palmer withdraws from the presidential race when Sherry dies...

i rest my case
