I get by with a little help from my friends.
So I had a ridiculous gaffe today. Panic-attack style brainfart while trying to present my thesis on SuperBlogging while being filmed. But it’s cool…because a 60-second voicemail completely turned around the tone of my day.
Allie had called me while i was listening to the presentations, and texted me telling me to listen to her voicemail message before she got off work at 3. I haven’t checked my vms in three weeks (literally), and was greeted with: “You have TWENTY-FIVE new messages.” TWENTY-FIVE.
I deleted nothingness after nothingness for fifteen minutes, and when I got to the last one which was Allie’s, I nearly cried.
“Char, I’m so proud of you. I checked out your blog and it makes me want to cry. It’s crazy to think about how much you’ve genuinely done in the last few years. You’ve made so much for yourself and you’re so talented–it’s all coming together.
“You’re one of those few people that deserves every great thing that’s coming to you. You are amazing. The site is phenomenal. Good job at being a rock star and succeeding at what you’re doing. You’re going to be the next Oprah and I’m not even joking.
“Seriously…anything you need, ANYTHING–I’m your girl. You’re gonna be huge and I want to be with you every step of the way. It’s amazing to have a friend as determined and talented as you; you remind me to stay on top of my game. I love you so much, talk to you soon.”
Clearly, I don’t even have to say anything more.
She’s my favorite person in the entire world.

That’s adorable! I think we all need to be like that more often.
Truly.
Encouraging, positive words can have incredibly deep impact.
