PETA, schmeeta.
PETA strikes again!
A recent article at The Huffington Post discusses one of PETA’s recent billboards in Jacksonville, FL. The ad is obviously putting obese people on blast, which I suppose isn’t too far off base. And of course, the feminist groups have responded in kind, because PETA degrades and dehumanizes women, “forcing them to wear lettuce bikinis and sit in cages all day.”
First, I must say that I don’t care for PETA and their hypocritical business practices. But in my opinion:
One- Nobody forces the models to do that stuff. For the right price, I would.
Two- Everything else in the media has been sexified and uses hot women to sell products and services. I mean, Go Daddy provides internet domain names but they use Danica Patrick and other hot chicks to publicize their business. So what difference does it make if PETA does the same? This is the society we live in.
Third- Even though the billboard hits a new low, sometimes you just have to be straight up with people who are unhealthy, rather than glorifying it.
So I guess my opinion is that I really don’t care? Or that I’m not overly offended and actually think the whole thing (plus the backlash) is marginally entertaining.
The Huffington Post also posted this funny video from The Onion News covering ugly angry women bitching about PETA’s practices:

Thoughts?

I used GoDaddy for my website because I like scantily clad women selling me stuff.
Well that’s because you’re a whoooore.
